Lasting Connection Workshop : A Program for Early Relationships & Committed Couples

Based on the latest attachment and education research the Lasting Connection® Workshop  is designed to provide couples with the essential components their relationships need to build a lasting love that will stay strong to weather the storms of life.
Whether you are looking for a workshop, tools or information you will find our program provides interactive and experiential education, systems and exercises that unify relationship research and educational pedagogy to provide you with personalized, fun and enriched learning experiences. When you attend a workshop you will get both results and tools you can take home with you to keep your relationship growing strong.
Interactive and experiential exercises unify the latest research to provide you a personalized, fun and enriched learning structure.
There is nothing more rewarding in life than to experience love. We want to help you safeguard and secure your love. We believe love is meant to be strong enough to last so we can build our lives with each other. For most of us, having relationships that grow with us and across time need us to invest time and resources to learn how to keep it strong and growing. The way we dreamed of when we first decide to build our lives together.
Simply put, Building A Lasting Connection® is here to help you do your relationship better.

Learning Objectives

  • How to secure your love, so it’s strong, safe and grows throughout your life.
  • The secrets of communication that creates connection. It’s not about talking and listening as much as it is knowing how to share and what to listen for.
  • How to deal with differences. Having differences of opinion and points of view is normal and healthy but all too often leads to unresolved hurts that results in conflict. You will learn how to use sensitive topics to bring you closer together, and tune in to each other heart to heart.
  • The essentials of touch and intimacy. Both affectionate touch and intimate touch are supportive aspects of your romantic relationship. You will learn how to know each other intimately, emotionally and sexually so your contact can be a comfort and journey of discovery.
  • How to develop goals, traditions and rituals so your marriage supports who you each are as well as your shared and individual dreams.

Lasting Connection® Relationship Pyramid

The Lasting Connection® workshop is built on the five pillars of the relationship pyramid (developed by Dr. Debi Gilmore & Dr. Rebecca Jorgensen) that are essential to romantic relationships. The pyramid has five sections including attachment, communication, managing conflict, physical intimacy, and shared goals. Each section builds upon the last, so you and your partner can conceptualize your relationship as a process of building, growing, evolving, developing and rising up in a collaborative manner.

Over the course of the workshop (either weekend retreat style or a 5 week course) couples will participate in dialogues that cover the following:
  • Attachment: Participants will spend time defining love and the role of secure attachment in loving relationships. You will explore the four types of attachment styles and how each one impacts your relationship.  You will learn how your early experiences in relationships and life impact how you respond to your partner. You and your partner will then complete the Brief Accessibility, Responsiveness and Engagement Scale and learn how loneliness impacts your physical health in addition to your relational health.
  • Communication: We will discuss ways couples communicate with each other and how they listen to each other. You will learn about a type of communication between couples called “Connecting Talk.” During this topic, couples will also learn how to use the Lasting Connections™ System mat (which is included in the retreat price). You and your partner will then use the mat to help you in having successful “Connecting Conversations.”
  • Embracing Differences:  In this section we begin to understand how to manage differences. First we begin to understand how the brain works in regards to mirror neurons and the limbic system. Then you and your partner will examine the negative pattern of interactions that could potentially get you and your partner caught up in conflict. We then use side two of the Lasting Connections™ System mat to learn how to move from conflict to connection. You and your partner will learn how to provide emotional support to each other and how to effectively collaborate.
  • Physical Connection: Participants will learn about the power of touch and the connection between sex and relationship happiness. You and your partner will learn the four keys to great sex: romance, time, foreplay and privacy. We will then learn about the three types of sex and the type that comes from safe and secure emotional connection.
  • Ritual, Roles & Goals: In our final topic, participants will learn the five steps on the map to a lasting relationship: getting to know you, emotional connection, trust, commitment and physical connection. We will then discover the importance and types of daily rituals for connection.
The Lasting Connection® workshop is designed to provide couples the skills they need to keep the spark alive throughout their lifetime. Using our Lasting Connection System® couples will discover the process of expressing hopes, exploring possibilities, addressing concerns, and working together to discover solutions to whatever issues and conflicts life may bring, as well as how to share thoughts, feelings and needs in a manner that ensures validation and understanding between partners.
